Where does the fat go when we burn it...?

Have you actually asked yourself what happens to your muffin top when you burn it? Where does it go when we get rid of it?
The answer is actually pretty simple. We breathe it out!
Maybe you've heard that in order to burn something, you need oxygen. And you might also know that we breathe in oxygen. And this with a good reason.
But let's start at the beginning: Fat molecules consist of the three atoms carbon C, oxygen O, and hydrogen H. In order to metabolise fat, the body needs oxygen, because the fat is literally being burned!
Okay, but what results from that "burning"? Smoke and carbon black? Fortunately not.
The fat molecule is being broken down into a tiny bit of water H2O and a ton of CO2! So far, so good. We have transferred all the atoms (C, O, H) from the fat into other substances (H2O and CO2). Through that breakdown, energy is being released as well. This energy is needed to fuel your activity when you're working out.
But back to the ton of CO2: Where does that go? It can't just stay in the body, right!? Well, we breathe it out! Oxygen in, carbon dioxide out, as simple as that.
The take home message:
Breathe! Fucking breathe!!!! Deeply! It not only decreases stress levels and heart rate, BUT it is also crucial for optimal fat burning. No oxygen, no fat burning.
Just take a deep breath.
